Advanced Periodontal
Therapy
Periodontal disease, also known as “gum disease,” is an infection that occurs around the teeth within the bone and gum tissues.
It causes the gums to detach from the tooth, bone structure to resorb, and ultimately mobility or complete loss of the tooth.
Early intervention is important when fighting gum disease.
We perform a periodontal assessment on all patients to monitor the health of their gum tissues.
Advanced Therapy Techniques
Deep Cleanings – Periodontal scaling and root planing treatments are necessary to remove the tartar deposits under the gumlines.
This creates a clean environment, encouraging proper healing and tissue reattachment.
Laser Therapy – This alternative to surgical therapies has many advantages. It is relatively comfortable to complete and encourages the tissues to reattach to the tooth’s surface.
It is usually performed in conjunction with a periodontal scaling and root planing.
Crown Lengthening – Removing some of the diseased gum tissue makes it easier to maintain good oral hygiene around the affected teeth.
Additional adjunctive treatments or specialty procedures may be necessary, depending on the severity of the gum infection.
A periodontal assessment is part of every new patient exam.
